eGift Certificates make giving the gift of language easy. Available in multiple denominations, they can be purchased online at Pimsleur.com and sent to anyone with a valid email address. If the recipient resides in the United States, the eGift Certificate is valid for any CD, Software, or MP3 product available on Pimsleur.com. If the recipient resides outside of the United States, the eGift Certificate is valid on MP3 and Software products only.
Once you add a product to your cart and start the checkout process, you'll have the option to mark any product as a GIFT and select a recipient.
- For digital gifts, you will have the opportunity to provide the giftee's email address and write a custom message. We will then notify the giftee by email and provide instructions for them to retrieve the digital gift.
- For physical gifts (U.S.-only), you will have the opportunity to mark the product as a gift, include a personal message, and ship directly to the gift recipient's address.
Q: How are the downloadable courses different from the CD version?
A: Both CD and digital audio versions of courses contain identical audio and Reading Lessons. The CD comes with printed booklets, and the digital courses are available as MP3 downloads, or used with the mobile Pimsleur app, or a desktop version. The content taught in the Reading Lessons is identical, however alphabet charts may display differently in the mobile or desktop versions. You can always get a PDF version of the Reading Booklet here.
Q: What format do the downloadable courses come in, and do they have any DRM (Digital Rights Management)?
A: You can get our audio courses delivered in our mobile app, or as downloadable MP3 files. Our audio courses are produced in high quality, crystal clear, standard MP3 format and have no Digital Rights Management or license keys to deal with.
Q: Is the audio quality different between digital and CD versions?
A: Pimsleur courses are recorded in our state-of-the-art studio using the latest equipment and digital technology. Please keep in mind that audio quality can vary, especially on mobile devices. It depends on your listening conditions and on your equipment.
Q: How much space do digital courses take up on my mobile device or computer? How long do the courses take to download?
A: For App users, the days of downloading are over. Using the Pimsleur App lets you stream your daily lesson directly from your phone or mobile device. You can download lessons for offline use, and then remove them to save space if you need it.
If you’re using Pimsleur on a desktop computer, you’ll get the same premium content using Pimsleur Course Manager (PCM) or Unlimited software for desktop. For these versions, you will need to download lesson files before beginning the course. A 30-lesson audio course averages approximately 500MB. Download times vary widely depending on your Internet connection speed and other factors. We recommend you have at least 10GB free space on your computer. On average you can expect a 30-lesson course to take anywhere from 15 minutes to 50 minutes (or longer in some cases). We recommend you use a high-speed connection for downloading.
Q: Do I need to be connected to the Internet to play my Pimsleur lessons?
A: You’ll need Wi-Fi to download the App from the Apple App Store or Google Play, and then the course will just stream from your device. If you want lessons to be available offline, you can easily add them to your device with the Download button at the bottom of your screen. The PCM and Unlimited desktop versions don’t offer streaming, so you will need to be connected to the Internet for the course and files to download after you install the software. Once they’re downloaded to your computer, they’ll be available to you whether online or off.
Q: Can I use my course on multiple devices?
A: Yes, you can use your course on up to four devices simultaneously (and Echo devices count as one, no matter how many Echo devices you use inside your house), so it’s easy to move from your car, to your Echo, to your iPad or other device.
Q: Can I share my course with others?
A: A registered user can share his or her course with up to three additional users, so it’s easy to share with family members or travel partners.
Q: What devices is my downloaded course compatible with?
A: MP3 files are the standard audio format and fully compatible with Mac, Windows, and Linux computers. MP3 files will also play on tablets, smartphones (including iPhones), and MP3 players such as iPods.For best results, we recommend you use the Pimsleur app to manage and play your courses. For specific system requirements, see Minimum Systems Requirements below.
Q: Does Pimsleur have an App?
A: Yes, the Pimsleur mobile app is available for free download from the iOs App store or from Google Play. You can use it to play audio and reading lessons in regular or hands-free driving mode. It syncs progress between devices including Amazon Echo devices.
Q: After I purchase my course, when do I get it? How much time do I have to download it after I buy it?
A: Once you purchase your course and download the app, it will be available for streaming immediately. You can also download it for offline use on your mobile device if you prefer. You can go “My Library” listed under your account on Pimsleur.com anytime to see a list of courses you’ve purchased. For listening and maximum learning, we recommend you use the Pimsleur App, which you can download from the App stores or the Amazon Alexa Pimsleur Skill.
Q: What if I have additional questions or need help getting the course onto my device?

Q: What is your refund policy for downloadable courses? What if I can't get the download to complete?
A: Once you purchase your downloadable course, we are unable to provide a refund. If for any reason you have trouble downloading, please contact Pimsleur Customer Service, and we will arrange an alternate method for you to receive your purchase.
Q: If I have a problem with my credit card transaction or other billing issue, how can I get it resolved quickly?
A: If for any reason you have trouble purchasing a course, if your card is not accepted, or if there is a billing problem that needs to be resolved, please contact Pimsleur Customer Service, and we will assist you. We are committed to resolving your issue as quickly as possible.
Q: I’m in my Library on Pimsleur.com, but how do I get my course?
A: Pimsleur and Pimsleur Premium Mobile - Download from the App Stores, then log in to your Pimsleur.com account. Once you’re logged in, you just need to click on the app to start a lesson that will stream to your device.
Amazon Echo Devices - Access the Pimsleur Skill from the Alexa App on your mobile device, then log in to your Pimsleur.com account. Once you’re logged in, you just need to tell Alexa, “Play my Pimsleur Course.” Then say, “My Course,” and if you have multiple users in your account, select which User number you are. The lesson will start right where you left off in the app.

Q: What’s the difference between the Pimsleur App and the Pimsleur Premium App?
A: The Pimsleur App is a smart audio player for your phone or tablet. It streams your daily audio lesson and Reading Lessons, and it’ll keep track of where you are on whatever device you use. It’s available for all 51 of our languages. You can download lessons for easy offline use, and there’s a convenient hands-free mode for use when driving, gardening, cooking, or anytime you want to set your device and just listen. The Pimsleur App is designed to sync with Amazon Echo devices using our new Pimsleur Alexa Skill, so you can easily play lessons at home as well.
The Pimsleur Premium App has all the features of the Pimsleur App, but it adds much more to help you review and work with your new language. It’s available for the following languages: Spanish (Latin American), French, Italian, German, Chinese Mandarin, Russian, Japanese, Portuguese (Brazilian), English for Spanish.
Here’s how the Premium App helps you learn and practice:
The Learn tab lets you work through your audio lessons, one per day, and Reading Lessons for those lessons that contain them, and work on content with fun practice elements once you’ve completed that day’s lesson:
- Flash Cards (forward and reverse),
- Quick Match quiz,
- Speak Easy conversation practice,
- All new Skills categories let you see a breakdown of each lesson’s new sentences by topic, so you can get a real sense of what you’re learning.
- Speed Round, which we’ve just added to individual lessons, so you can really challenge yourself on the vocabulary you’ve just learned.
The Skills tab lets you see everything you’ve learned so far in the audio lessons broken down by Skills categories. The list of sentences you’ve “earned” will grow as you complete each day’s lessons.
The Practice tab gives you a quick practice session that pulls from all the lessons you’ve completed so far. You get a blast of 12 flash cards, 12 quiz items and a conversation. You never know which conversation you’ll get, so it keeps you on your toes. Speed Round will pull vocabulary from all the lessons you’ve learned to date, so it will challenge and delight you. You’ll be amazed at how quickly you’ll start responding without thinking!
The Downloads tab gives you an easy way to download one or all of the lessons for offline use. If storage on your device is at a premium, you can manage it easily using this feature.
Manage your courses from the main menu at the top of the screen. Check your library to see all your Pimsleur courses. You can also see your Activation information, check your settings, get setup with Alexa, and see all our customer service contacts and legal terms right from your app.
Q: How do I get the Pimsleur Skill on my Alexa?
A: Once your Echo device is connected to Wi-Fi, go to the Skills page in your Alexa App and search for Pimsleur. The Pimsleur Skill page will appear. Click on Enable to add the Pimsleur Skill to your account.
You’ll be asked to log in to your Pimsleur account, or create a new account.
Q: How do I talk to Alexa?
A: If you’ve used Alexa for other Skills, you’ll probably be familiar with the best ways to talk to her, but if not, here’s a list phrases to get you started:

Q: How do I start a lesson?
A: Alexa will tell you which language, level and lesson you last played either with your Echo, or in your app, and ask if you want to Continue, or you can say pick which Level and which Lesson. Either say, “Continue” or “Pick Level X, Lesson X.”
Q: How do I switch languages?
A: At present you cannot switch languages inside the Pimsleur Skill, however you can switch between Levels of a single language. To switch languages, go into your Pimsleur app, and open your Library from the menu at the top of the page.
Q: What’s a User Name?
A: If you have more than one user on your Pimsleur app, you'll need to tell Alexa which user you are. Look at your Alexa app on your mobile device, and choose a user number. The main account holder is User 1.
Q: How do I navigate and control my Echo device?
A: The Pimsleur Skill works just like any other Alexa Skill, with commands common to all. Here are a few common ones:

If you forgot your password, click the "Forgot Your Password" link on the Sign In or Your Account pages on Pimsleur.com. On the Pimsleur Course Manager, click "Lost Password." We'll ask for the e-mail address that you used to create your original account and a new password will be sent to that e-mail address.

There is no surcharge for using your credit card to make purchases with Pimsleur. Please be sure to provide your exact billing address and telephone number, as they appear on your credit card statement. FLEXIPAY INSTALLMENT PLAN OPTION
FlexiPay is a 0% APR and no interest payment plan and an easy way to divide your purchase into three low monthly payments at no extra charge. This is an installment billing plan where equal payments are made on your credit or debit card in accordance with the below schedule, rather than the whole amount being charged upfront. If you elect to pay via FlexiPay, the total purchase price plus any applicable shipping and tax will be charged in three equal installments. The first payment will be charged at the time the order is placed. Thereafter, your account will be charged by Pimsleur approximately every 30 days for the remaining number of payments with 0% APR and no interest in accordance with the following schedule:
- 1st Payment: 1/3 of the total sale; billed on your credit or debit card at the time of order
- 2nd Payment: 1/3 of the total sale; billed on your credit or debit card approximately 30 days after sale
- 3rd Payment: 1/3 of the total sale; billed on your credit or debit card approximately 60 days after sale
The FlexiPay Installment Plan is made available on select purchases only. Minimum purchase requirements (after application of promotional discounts) may apply. By proceeding with the FlexiPay Installment Plan, you agree that you will keep enough credit available on the credit or debit card you have provided so future installments can be billed to that card. If the card expires or is cancelled, you agree to notify Pimsleur and supply an alternative card with the necessary funds available before the next payment is due. Failure to have the necessary funds may result in discontinuance of your access to the Pimsleur digital product purchased under the FlexiPay Installment Plan.
In the event you fail to make a payment under the FlexiPay Installment Plan, you agree to pay all costs related to the collection of the outstanding balance of the purchase price, including, without limitation, reasonable legal fees, costs associated with the engagement of a third party collection agency (including any percentage charged by the debt collection agency for the collection of the balance of the purchase price) and all other expenses and collection costs resulting from your default.
The FlexiPay Installment Plan is available only on select purchases and for customers with a billing address in the United States, excluding customers with a billing address in the state of Florida.
Appropriate sales tax is calculated during the checkout process and is based on existing local, state, and federal laws. Any taxes imposed will be specified in your cart prior to submitting your order. For physical shipments sales tax is charged based on the applicable rates at the ship-to zip code; for digital downloads it is charged according to the bill-to zip code.

To check on any items that are being shipped to you by Pimsleur.com, click on the Your Account link located at the top of each page on the right. Then click on the Orders tab where you can view or track any recent or past orders.
CHECKING YOUR ORDER STATUS & DIGITAL LIBRARY FOR DOWNLOADS
To check on any items that you have purchased for digital download at Pimsleur.com, click on the Your Account link located at the top of each page on the right. Then click on the Orders tab for a duplicate of your receipt; then click on the Digital Library tab to see the downloads you've purchased now and in the past. You can also download any of these again.
UPDATING ACCOUNT INFORMATION
To update your account information, click on the Your Account link located at the top of each page on Pimsleur.com. There you will have the option to modify your name, password, communication preferences, address book, and credit card information.
During the checkout process, you will be able to select your preferred shipping option. The cost for any expedited methods you have chosen will be calculated for you and displayed for your approval.
There is never a shipping charge for Pimsleur MP3 downloads, which can be delivered worldwide.
There is no charge for standard shipping of physical (CDs and software) Pimsleur products in the contiguous U.S. Delivery to PO Boxes is only available for standard shipping within the contiguous U.S. For shipments to Alaska or Hawaii, select Express or Expedited shipping. We do not ship physical Pimsleur products outside of the United States. Digital downloads are available worldwide.

The delivery time frame will vary based on the shipping option you have chosen during the checkout process:
Free/Standard: Orders ship within 1 business day and should arrive within 4 - 5 business days of order date. (Your item will ship from our warehouse in New Jersey.)
Express: Average delivery is 2 – 3 days, but can take up to 5 days for some locations such as Alaska.
Expedited: Orders placed before 9:30 am EST ship the same day. Average delivery is 1 – 2 business days, but can take up to 5 business days for locations such as Alaska.
Pimsleur digital downloads cannot be returned for credit or refund.

We will refund on returns of your CD purchase if you:
- Return unopened products in their original condition.
- Include your packing slip or invoice, and return Pimsleur.com purchases (Pimsleur Language Programs) within 90 days of the shipment date listed on your packing slip.
- To arrange your return, please call us domestically at 1-800-831-5497 or internationally at 0-800-051-4293. We are open 24/7.
- Original shipment charges are not refundable.
- Please ship returns by traceable, insured means along with the original packing slip or invoice.
- You are responsible for all costs associated with return shipment.
- Returns made to Pimsleur.com will be refunded in the same form as the original payment.
- The credit for your return will be applied to the credit card used to make the purchase.
- It may take up to two credit card billing cycles for the credit to appear on your statement.
- Refunds cannot be made for items returned to us more than 90 days after original shipment date.
- Exchanges can only be made for damaged goods or incorrect shipments.
- Pimsleur digital downloads cannot be returned for credit or refund.

GENERAL PIMSLEUR Q&A
Q: I already know some of the language I intend to learn. Can I start at Level 2 or higher?
A: The Pimsleur courses are designed to be used in order starting with the first lesson. Each successive level and lessons builds on the teachings of the previous ones. In most cases, it is recommended you start with Level 1. If you wish to start at a higher level, please contact our Customer Service team for assistance. Q: When do I do the Reading Lessons?
A: Depending on the course, you may choose to do the Readings along with the audio units after every few lessons, or you may want to wait and do them all together, after completing the entire course. Feel free to repeat the Reading Lessons as often as needed. Some courses, include Culture Notes in place of Reading Lessons.
Q: How do the Reading Lessons work?
A: The Reading exercises use a phonetic approach. We start by introducing you to the most common sounds and sound-combinations of the new alphabet. (And remember, just because the letters look the same as English, doesn’t mean they’re pronounced the same.) You will progress from sound / symbol correlation in Level 1, to reading for meaning in successive levels.
Q: Can I obtain a transcript of the course?
A: We don’t offer transcripts, but not because they’re a deep dark secret. Dr. Pimsleur's research found that the fastest way to truly learn a new language was by listening to, and being asked to recall a new word or phrase. Those who tried to write while this was happening were far less able to recall the material they were learning. They were also less able to use it “on the fly” in actual conversations. So even though it may seem counter-intuitive, we strongly recommend that you don’t take notes or look things up while doing your Pimsleur course. Relax and let your brain do the work it was designed to do.
Q: How many words will I learn in each new course?
A: Depending on the language and level, each 30-lesson course will teach between 300 and 500 new vocabulary items. However, the goal of the Pimsleur programs is is not to teach as many disjointed vocabulary words as possible, but to allow you to use and manipulate the language, to understand the structure, and to be able to construct your own sentences. Once you’ve got the structures down and have mastered a basic vocabulary, adding new words and structures becomes natural and easy.
