This course includes Lessons 6-10 from the Swedish Level 1 Program featuring 2.5 hours of language instruction. Each lesson provides 30 minutes of spoken language practice, with an introductory conversation, and new vocabulary and structures. Detailed instructions enable you to understand and participate in the conversation. Practice for vocabulary introduced in previous lessons is included in each lesson. The emphasis is on pronunciation and comprehension, and on learning to speak Swedish.

The Swedish Language
Swedish is an Indo-European language that belongs to the North Germanic branch of the Germanic languages, all of which derive from Old Norse. This course teaches rikssvenska (sometimes referred to as Standard Swedish) as spoken in and around the capital region of Stockholm. Swedish is spoken by approximately 10 million people, mostly in Sweden and parts of Finland. Norwegian and Swedish are considered mutually intelligible, with Danish also being very similar.

Comments about Pimsleur Swedish Level 1 Lessons 6-10 MP3:

Speaker sometimes speaks too rapidly...some of the repetition borders on the ridiculous..."Now, this is how you say O.K. in Swedish...'OK'...can you say O.K in Swedish now? but I do find this the best way for me to learn...I will stay with a lesson 3-4 playings before I move on...I have used Pimsleur for Hungarian, Italian, and now Swedish.

Comments about Pimsleur Swedish Level 1 Lessons 6-10 MP3:

Pimsleur is great. The quality of the lessons is top nothc. I feel I have learned quite a bit without much effort. And I'm now recommending Pimsleur to some relatives and friends that are tyring to learn new languages.

I really like the idea that this product is audio only. It makes it really easy for me to take the lessons, and definitely makes me have a much better accent than if I was seeing the words written. I actually searched how some words are spelled, so that I could send a little phrase in Swedish by e-mail to a relative in Sweden, and now I have a hard time pronouncing some of those words correctly because I have the written image in my head.

    Service and delivery comments:

    1) I wish they had more than 30 Swedish lessons so that I could get pretty advanced with Pimsleur. But I understand that Swedish is not a very popular language, so there's probably not a lot of demand.
    2) I think I could handle the lessons going quite a bit faster, covering more material per lesson.
