Swahili, or Kiswahili, is the most widely-spoken African language, and is spoken throughout East Africa. It is recognized as an official national language in Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania. Pimsleur's Swahili teaches Standard Swahili as spoken in and around Nairobi, Kenya.
Can learning another language be as easy as speaking your own? Yes - with Pimsleur it’s that easy. Learn on your own time, at your own pace, and wherever you choose. Swahili Phase 1, Units 21-25 build on material taught in prior units. Each lesson provides 30 minutes of spoken language practice, with an introductory conversation, and new vocabulary and structures. Detailed instructions enable you to understand and participate in the conversation. Each lesson contains practice for vocabulary introduced in previous lessons. The emphasis is on pronunciation and comprehension, and on learning to speak Swahili. These units contain Reading Lessons designed to teach you to sound out words with correct pronunciation and accent. A Reading Booklet to be used with the audio lessons is also included in PDF format.

Comments about Swahili Phase 1, Unit 21-25:
This is a great course to start learning Kiswahili. I am not good at learning languages but this course's method has enabled me to learn and retain Kiswahili. I can listen in my car as well at home and I am not tied to a computer. The repeated actual use of the language in the context of a real conversation helps retain the vocabulary and to start learning the structure of the Kiswahili. I travel as a volunteer to Tanzania often and now I will finally be able to talk to locals in their language!!!
Service and delivery comments:
The reading lessons should match the spoken lesson unit. Give the definitions of the words on the reading lesson. Actual use of the words in the reading lesson which helps in retaining the vocabulary. The subjects of the lesson should go beyond a traveling focus. More lesson units. I love this course and its techniques but I need more than 30 units. I will finish with the 30 units in two weeks and now I will have to find another course that will unfortunately use a different method. More lesson units please!!!! Hurry--Thanks
