Comments about Pimsleur Norwegian Level 1 Lessons 1-5 MP3:

I am currently on lesson 12 of this series. Previously, I have done Pimsleur Italian up through level 4; I plan to follow with level 5 in Italian.

Excellent product. I believe I am learning Norwegian faster than I picked up Italian. In part, learning another language makes one more open to concepts such as definite and indefinites, plurals, grammar constructs, and so on that one takes for granted in their native language. That probably helped.

Also, Norwegian seems much closer to English, my native language, then Italian.

The writing component starts earlier in this Norwegian than it did in my version of Pimsleur Italian. I think that is useful. Many of the words are spelled differently than I would think, and I am interested in reading. I do, however, agree that the vocal/aural component is more important. Too easy to be led astray by written characters early on.

It's a fun process, and well worth the price Pimsleur changes. I hope Pimsleur adds a level 2 Norwegian.

      Excellent for pronunciation

Comments about Pimsleur Norwegian Level 1 Lessons 1-5 MP3:

Excellent method, especially for pronunciation. A little slow with vocabulary, but that can be supplemented with online lessons such as the free Norwegian on the Web from NTNU. Highly recommended for beginners.

Comments about Pimsleur Norwegian Level 1 Lessons 1-5 MP3:

I have a half-hour commute each way, so I listened to it on my way to and from work. I was able to repeat out loud and not bother anyone. I found it very useful, and didn't feel so lost when I went to Norway in August. Many people speak English in Norway, but this was a great foundation. I think it's always nice to be able to say some basic phrases in the country where you visit, and the people seem to appreciate it. Many people complimented me on my pronunciation.

      Service and delivery comments:

I bought this program ten years ago before a trip to Norway and was excited to see the program had expanded from only 16 lessons up to 30. I sure wish there were more so I could continue learning the language. As the lessons progressed and more content was added, I could have used more time to reply. Sometimes, by the time I repeated (and translated) in my head what had just been said, and composed my reply, the verbal response was already being played.

Comments about Pimsleur Norwegian Level 1 Lessons 1-5 MP3:

I downloaded it to my laptop, which has poor amplification, and must hold it to my ear to hear it. I don't know how to transfer it to my desktop.

Norsk pronunciation was different from what I had heard, in the city or the mountains. A Norsk native told me the pronunciations are incorrect.

I would like to see a printed version. I think I would be able to remember it better.

Comments about Pimsleur Norwegian Level 1 Lessons 1-5 MP3:

Good introduction to Norwegian. I enjoy ,listening to the lessons to and from work and have surprised myself at my consistency, have steadily increased my vocabulary with these introduction phrases, common expressions, a few important verbs. I also purchased 6-10 and have completed. Planning on another purchase shortly. Some may find the lessons very basic, but I am okay with the pace. I listen to them several times for better comprehension and pronunciation. I now have a language exchange partner and she told me my pronounciation was very good so far.

To be honest, I didn't think that I would be able to learn a foreign language at 59 years old I was wrong. With the Pimsleur system, you can't help but learn. It's easy, it's fun and it's simple.
