Description

Hungarian is spoken in Hungary and by the Hungarian minorities in 7 neighboring countries. The Hungarian name for the language is Magyar. Pimsleur's Hungarian teaches the "standard" Hungarian, which is based on the North-Eastern dialect spoken throughout Hungary.

Hungarian, Conversational

  • Sixteen 30-minute lessons of spoken Hungarian language instruction. These sixteen lessons are the same as the first sixteen lesson of Pimsleur's 30-Unit Comprehensive Program.
  • Each lesson includes an introductory conversation, and new vocabulary and structures and includes practice for vocabulary introduced in previous lessons.
  • Essential grammar and vocabulary. Topics include: greetings, numbers, meals, shopping, telling time, scheduling activities, and asking and giving directions.
  • No mindless repetition! Converse with native speakers in natural (and useful!) conversations.
  • Easy, fast, fun and effective language acquisition.

    Comments about Hungarian, Conversational:

Although Hungarian, Conversational is pretty much the same as the first 18 lessons of Hungarian, it really helps to go over this language a second time as Hungarian is quite difficult. The variations in the two programs help with learning and understanding. I always turn to Pimsleur when I'm in need of learning a new language.

      Comments about Hungarian, Conversational:

I am from Hungary and fluent in Hungarian. I bought this program for my husband, who wants to learn the language in preparation for visiting family. The construction of sentences taught is excellent, along with pronunciation. Perhaps the most beneficial part of this program is that it is in conversational Hungarian format versus proper, which in many cases is not applicable to real life encounters.

        Comments about Hungarian, Conversational:

I haven't gotten all the way through it yet, but the pronunciation is clear and I find it easy to follow. I have been through the German and Dutch conversational level 1 cd's as well and this one follows the same format. Pimsleur is not kidding about the spaced repetition working! Enjoy it.

        Comments about Hungarian, Conversational:

I really like the repeating with In The lesson. It allows me to start to remember words before I forget it. Then I am asked to recall words again later so I'm remembering new words rather than just repeating. I do wish longer words would spend a little more time on pronunciation so I could master that quicker. Otherwise the conversations are realistic and I will be able to use what I'm learning.

          Comments about Hungarian, Conversational:

I am planning a trip to Hungary and found this very helpful. Since Hungarian is difficult to learn, I had to repeat the CDs several times to move forward. This was probably the easiest and most efficient way to learn Hungarian.
