Comments about Turkish Phase 1, Unit 16-20:

these audio lessons are very good, BUT, I would recommend highly that they be accompanied by a written text book in which the words are spelled out. I think that using just the audio is sometmes counterproductive. Maybe also find a friend who is fluent and can get you started. (I lived in Turkey for a couple of years, so that helped me with the general tone, pacing, syntax, and "ear" for the language.) And even I need a written text in front of me for each lesson. Finally, because Turkish is not as popular as other languages, there are only 30 total 30-minute lessons. They will get you only to a point of communicating basic getting-yourself-around things like, hotels, common courtesies, restaurants, tourist shopping, etc.

Comments about Turkish Phase 1, Unit 16-20:

Turkish is so very different a language from anything in Europe that it requires time -- to tune out of everything you know and learn from scratch. This 30-lesson course is outstanding because it recognizes the cognitive challenge of the language, reminds you of what you should have but perhaps didn't absorb, and moves you forward each day. I only regret there isn't a part II. And I do wish there were an accompanying text that would aid in the rapid learning of vocabulary.
