Just like most people who want to learn a new language I bounced around from program to program. I decided to invest a little more money into my desire to learn the Thai language, this product was worth every bit of the money spent. By the time I was half way through I felt that everything I had done in the past was almost a waste of time. This program starts you on the right path to learning the Thai language but the draw back is that once you're hooked on it and exspanding your knowledge at this incredible rate, your legs are cut out from under you as there is no follow up levels and you're left out in the cold. If Pimsleur supported Thai like the other programs I know I would be as fluent in the Thai language as possible for a person that for now only spends 30 days a month in Thailand. It was such a let down to find out that at present there are "no future plans" to follow up on this language! I don't take anything away from this program but that news is very disappointing indeed!

I've been studying Pimsleur almost 2 years. I have to go to Thailand in 4 years so I am going slowly. Cracks me up when they say a "language in 10 days". Hilarious. The course gives a good basis of Thai. But one is nowhere near everyday conversations. One could survive those awkward first meetings for about 15 minutes but thats about it. I walk to work an hour each way and wear my headphones to listen and learn. I'd say I use it for a good 6 hours a week minimum. Its an excellent way of mastering the fundamentals of their grammar and intonations. I just wish there were a Thai II or III. This only scratches the surface. I'm married to a Thai by the way and yes she is a horrible teacher.

Comments about Thai Phase 1, Units 1-30:
The Thai learning program is very helpful, practical, and easy to follow. I have been learning Thai for about five years now and wish this was the first learning program I tried. It breaks down how the tones should sound and it teaches in a way that you learn and retain the information.

Comments about Thai, Comprehensive:
Pimsleur Thai is the best language course on audio CDs bar none, in my experience but the fact that after all these years Pimsleur have STILL not come out with levels 2 and 3 like most of the other languages really makes it a bit of a dead end. I turned to other materials from other providers, none of whom are remotely as effective as Pimsleur system and where you learn slower, and I visit Thailand at least twice annually on my pre-retirement path. Pimsleur however is the best system when away from Land of Smiles and I have already used all 3 Japanese modules and now started the Chinese but I have lobbied them to make higher level courses 2 and 3 in Thai but stll in 2013 no sign of this happening yet. I am sure MANY people would buy these if you make them, so please put them on the urgent development list.

Comments about Thai Phase 1, Units 1-30:
Have completed only six lessons but very pleased as compared to another well=known language course I tried before. I like the repetitions which allow you to constantly review previous lessons. The learning pace is slow, so you can more easily absorb and retain the material. Adds only a little new material while reinforcing previously learned material. So far, happy with everything about the program.
