This worked really well and FAST. The repetition helped and it was very much like having a one-on-one instructor there. I liked how it gave you full speed conversations and then broke it down. This worked wonders for me.

I have used PIMSLEUR to learn French, Italian, Arabic and most recently Swedish. The courses as always are FIRST rate. Sadly (for me, anyway) Swedish is very difficult, harder for me than Arabic (although I do also speak Hebrew). Anyway...I did the first TEN lessons during the month before my departure to Sweden and it is really WONDERFUL to know at least a few words and phrases in a foreign land. Even if everyone speaks English around you it is a compliment to them and gives you one edge up on the experience. ONE PIECE OF ADVICE...Pimsleur suggests you listen to each lesson once and then go to the next lesson the next day. My experience is that it works BEST if I listen to each lesson FOUR or FIVE times over two to three days and THEN go on to the next lesson. Don't skip days, though. It definitely works and works beautifully!

I did a LOT of research before finding this system, and was pretty confident that it was the best on the market. I loved that I can buy the lessons for $20 at a clip - this relieves a lot of the guilt you have when you spend $500 for a system and then don't rush through it right away. I've done that in the past, and that guilt creates resistance that keeps me from ever getting past the first lesson. With this, I can take my time for minimal investment and I'm already seeing great results. The more I listen to the MP3s, the more confident I get, and the more I want to learn. And because I don't always have the extra cash to spare, I can learn at my own pace, without the buyers remorse. Can't wait to have my first conversation with a native. I can't believe how fast I'm picking this up. :)
