About Swedish
- Swedish is an Indo-European language that belongs to the North Germanic branch of the Germanic languages, all of which derive from Old Norse.
- This course teaches rikssvenska (sometimes referred to as Standard Swedish) as spoken in and around the capital region of Stockholm.
- Swedish is spoken by approximately 10 million people, mostly in Sweden and parts of Finland.
Norwegian and Swedish are considered mutually intelligible, with Danish also being very similar. - The Swedish alphabet uses the 26 Latin letters, plus three additional: Å / å, Ä / ä, and Ö / ö.
Swedish, Conversational
- Sixteen 30-minute lessons of spoken Swedish language learning. This course replaces our original Compact Swedish with new and expanded vocabulary, scenarios, grammar and structures.
- Essential grammar and vocabulary that teach you greetings, numbers, how to order food and drink, deal with currency, scheduling a meal or meeting and to give and ask for directions. Learn to speak with near-native pronunciation skills.
- No mindless repetition! Converse with native speakers in natural (and useful!) conversations.
- Easy, fast, fun and effective language acquisition.
- Completely Audio - anytime, anywhere. No computer necessary! Unlike expensive software programs which tie learners to a computer, Pimsleur courses are available in CD or mp3 format to meet your needs.
- Receive an instant credit of $150 to trade up from the Conversational to the full Level 1 Comprehensive CD course.

Comments about Swedish, Conversational:
My husband is a native Swede and I lived in Sweden 12 years and speak Swedish fluently so we both wanted our 13yo son to learn some Swedish before we visit this Xmas. We bought this program after ds had completed 2 levels of another program (which is about 2 years) and he still could not speak any Swedish and understood very very little. Immediately with Pimsleur, I saw and heard that ds was using the language correctly and his accent was improved greatly. He is only up to lesson 7 and he is already much more fluent. Thank you.

Comments about Swedish, Conversational:
I haven't spent as much time as I would have liked with the product. I would have liked to put it on my MP3 so that I could take it with me and learn while travelling. I also would like to see the lesson written. I know this isn't the way it is taught by Primsleur, but sometimes it helps me retain the information if I see it written out. I am still enjoying the lessons and if I could find a deal on the product I would buy more lessons in the series.
