      Comments about Spanish Phase 1, Unit 16-20:

      I use this product when I am driving around. It's been useful to me and I like it. I wanted an audio course, rather than a computer course, since I sit behind a computer all day. It's been good for me. I feel like I am improving at a decent rate. When I feel like it's moving too fast, it seems to back off a little, so I don't feel like I can't keep up. I keep buying the courses, if that says anything.

      Comments about Spanish Phase 1, Unit 16-20:

      I listen to this on my 20 drive to and from work every day. I have been at it for about 5 months and am through lesson 21. I go through each lesson 3 times to make sure I have it down well. It really works. I have started using it in conversations from time to time and even though I have a long way to go I am finding that I have confidence to understand some of what other Spanish speakers are saying and even engage in brief conversations.

      Also, I like the cute conversations they put at the end of some of the lessons...makes it entertaining.

      Learn to think in the language

      Comments about Spanish Phase 1, Unit 16-20:

      A very good way to learn. It has helped me to actually think in the language, not just translate in my head. I recommend it to anyone I know that's wanting to learn a language.

      The lessons seem to start out very slow and repetitive. But that's an important part of the key to this method. That allows you to build understanding of sentence structure, conjugation, and just simply reinforcing second-nature learned responses. And so, as you go along, with the lessons prompting you for a correct response but not giving you an excessive amount of time to respond, you learn to respond immediately, often without even translating, simply replying with what you know to be the correct response. Stick with the course for at least 10 lessons; it's starting about then that you'll see your learning really accelerating.

      I would recommend supplementing these lessons with a *limited* amount of other study. (Don't try to do everything that you see or pick-up; you'll get overwhelmed. I've found that just being consistent with a few methods is the most effective.)

      Two other study helps I'd recommend is "Spanish Step-By-Step" by Charles Berlitz, a good book that simply has you read through conversations (with pretty good pronunciation guides, and translations) that help you see and understand new words, along with words and concepts you're learning on the Pimsleur course.

      The other one is "Destinos", a free video learning program found at http://learner.org/series/destinos/watch/index.html?sect_lagavia. It's a pretty well done Spanish "novella" designed to help build contextual listening comprehension.

      Service and delivery comments:

      It would be VERY helpful to have some simple written guides, maybe in PDF for download, to help with understanding on each lesson. For me, seeing something visually is a great help to my understanding. So, for example, seeing how a word is spelled greatly helps me in pronouncing it, but also in learning to pronounce words I see that are like it.

      So, I would recommend:
      * A basic pronunciation guide
      * A list of about 5-10 vocabulary words for each lesson, again, mostly for visual reinforcement.
      * Some expounding of concepts introduced in the lesson, such as new verbs and their conjugations, more on sentence structure, etc. Doesn't need to be a lot. Just something appropriate for the learning level of that lessons.
