Pimsleur courses are great. I have used them over the years to prepare for travel where I needed Spanish, Portuguese, and German. the only negative I see is the big concentration on beer. Yes, I drink beer, but that is not really the focus for mission trips. Maybe water or coffee could be substituted;-)

I took a few years of Spanish in HS, decades ago. I wanted to review and refresh the very basic skill set I had.
The Pimsleur program was a nearly perfect review. I was able to review both vocabulary and syntax in a very short period of time. Very effective method.

Excellent program. I remember the words from each lesson, but WAY too expensive for something I download on my computer and it costs Pimsleur nothing beyond the initial cost of recording to produce. Not sure how far I'll continue.

I really enjoy this product. I listen to it everyday on my way to work, when i run and sometimes i listen to a lesson before bed.
It is very consistant and each lesson you learn several new words or phrases, plus review previous lesons.
The only thing i dont like, is that some words are hard to understand and i like to see what they look like. You end up hearing them so many times that in the end that it isnt much of a problem.

At coffee I listen and repeat the lesson. I do this until comfortable which usually takes about 3 days then move on to the next lesson and build from the last one. I'm now on lesson 15 and am told that I'm learning the language organically. At lesson 30 I'm told I'll receive printed word included.
