I am so excited with learning how to speak in Spanish and Pimsleur has helped so much in this area. I try to practice daily and my Spanish accent is getting better and I am able to respond quicker without much thought when presented with a question. I love how I am given enough time to practice and respond. I want to become fluent so I can use Spanish on my job and this is a great supplement with my other tools I am using.

I've been using the various Pimsleur tapes: Spanish, French and Italian, for years, generally prior to a trip where I can use the acquired skills and I can vouch that they do work for basic conversational needs. Lately, I've decided to go all the way with the Spanish tapes and see how far I can go and how conversant I can really get. I'll post back in 6 months.
I work the mp3s first thing in the morning as I go about my tedious Chemex coffee ritual and frankly I don't think I even need the coffee anymore. My neurons are firing on all cylinders after 10 minutes of the dialogue. I don't commute anywhere but when I did these tapes made it bearable. Try them and stick with it.

After taking Spanish for four years in high school over a decade ago, and traveling to several Spanish-speaking countries, I had a history of broken and ineffective education in Spanish. I was frustrated that after all this formal education I still could not speak fluently. I knew I was intellegent enough to learn a language, but I could not understand why I wasn't "getting it."
I finally decided to purchase Pimsleur and try on my own. I cannot recommend this program enough. Dr. Pimsleur's method really does work, and it is fun! Being able to comprehend so quickly is motivating to keep going. It is also very consumer-friendly to have the option of purchasing MP3 downloads as-you-go. For my family budget, this was the only option I could afford.
Kudos to the Pimsleur group for making languages affordable and accessible to all.

I'm trying to learn enough Spanish to show my hosts some respect on an upcoming trip to South America. I saw a pop-up ad about Pimsleur on my computer, did a little research on the product and decided to try it. It works! I've never been good with languages, but with this product I feel like I'm learning a lot of words quickly and my accent isn't half-bad. Thanks!

What I like about the Pimsleur course is that they repeat, in detail, the pronunciations of words. Instead of just hearing a full sentence and repeating it, they break it down so that you can hear the individual components. Then, they put the components together, one by one. It keeps me from mispronouncing a word, based on hearing it only in its entirety.
The other thing I like about Pimsleur is being able to buy the lessons in chunks, rather than buying an entire course all at once. Thus, I can learn at my own speed and buy additional lessons as needed.
Pimsleur is done by sound only, so its convenient to listen to in the car -- to and from work. I would recommend it for anyone wanting to learn a language.
