Description
Includes 30 lessons and reading instruction on 16 CDs, plus a reading booklet
Spanish is the official language of Spain and 21 Latin American countries, and is an official language of the U.N. Pimsleur's Spanish teaches an educated Latin American Spanish, with speakers from Colombia and Argentina in levels I-III, and from Mexico in level IV.
Can learning another language be as easy as speaking your own? Yes with Pimsleur it’s that easy. Learn on your own time, at your own pace, and wherever you choose. Spanish II, Comprehensive includes 15 hours of spoken language practice and one additional hour of reading instruction, and is designed to be used after completing Level I.
- In the first 10 lessons, you begin to use the past tense. Structures become more complex and informal speech is introduced. Conversations become fuller, and learners are able to discuss business and social activities, manage shopping situations, and express their interests. As you progress, vocabulary is expanded and fluency increases.
- The next 10 lessons allow you to further combine and build upon known elements, and produce longer and more complex sentences. You learn to bargain with shopkeepers, deal with business situations, get and give medical information, and discuss the weather.
- In the final 10 lessons, you’ve doubled your vocabulary and have several hundred structures to draw upon. You’ll gain experience asking for assistance, finding a location that is some distance away, and using relative structures – faster, slower, etc. Sports and leisure activities are explored, as well as shopping, changing money, and future travel plans. By the end of Level II, you’re speaking at a midintermediate level with nearnative pronunciation, and you are comfortable meeting most social demands and limited job requirements.
Reading Lessons are included at the end of Unit 30. These lessons, which total about one hour, are designed to give you practice reading Spanish, and to provide you with some insight into Spanish culture with proverbs, common expressions, and a broad look at things you’ll see when visiting a Spanishspeaking country. A Reading Booklet to be used with the audio lessons is also included in PDF format.

Comments about Spanish Phase 2, Units 1-30:
I on the second Spanish course. I like it and have learned a lot. But, I use YAHOO translater often to see what the sentences look like. Sometimes I find that what I thought was two words were actully one and vice versa. It would help greatly if there were a book with the dialoges in it. Also it would help if there were a English translation of the reading leasons.

It is important to spend a half hour each day with this, but not always possible. My Spanish has improved exponentially. This program is not just a rote memoriazation of words, but the use of the language.

Comments about Spanish Phase 2, Units 1-30:
I originally purchased the "chip" version. When the licenses expired and they converted to MP3 files, I was given a free upgrade. Customer service was outstanding. I feel my conversation skills are much improved from this course. Independant study of vocabulary and grammer is probably also necessary, but this course will build your conversation skills.

Comments about Spanish Phase 2, Units 1-30:
30 lessons that challenge and reinforce the great content. I do each lesson two or three times while on the stairmaster and elliptical. The people at my gym think I'm a crazy guy who talks to himself. The truth is, the inability to download the entire program even after seven attempts, is driving me insane!
