I completed level 1 Romanian. I seemed difficult at first but eventually it all started to make sense _ now I am ready to move up.

After completing Pimsleur Brazilian Portugese level 3 I was the only one that could speak the language for a group of 20 Americans in Brazil, Several of which were using Roseta Stone but, could not get beyond parroting a word or two. It only took me six months and now with the help of a basic grammar book I can also read Portugese.

I am two lessons from Pimsleur Hebrew level 2 _ now that is a real challange! Note: I am 59 and not a liquist. Warning! this can be addictive and make people jealuous.

I am up to Unit 12 out of the 30. So far so good but it has been mainly how to order drinks and have dinner. As I have said, I'm only on Unit 12 so I hope as I go I will get Into directions and such.
If you do it every day it does stick. A few lessons I had to do more than once, but that was me, not the lesson itself.
Sometimes it goes a bit fast, but that is what the pause button for I suppose :)
I'm not sure if I would recommend it YET because I have not finished but I am happy to say I sure know how to order beer or wine!
And with out a booklet I sometimes have to look up the word they are speaking but I don't find that difficult.

Comments about Romanian Phase 1, Units 1-30:

Pimsleur is the best way to learn to speak a new language. No time-wasting games that produce no results. Learn proper pronunciation and usage with native speakers. Understanding the language makes travel in a foreign country much easier.

I really don't have any complaints about the current state of the product. It exceeded my expectations. I was skeptical at first, but I've learned a quantifiable amount of Romanian through this course.

Comments about Romanian Phase 1, Units 1-30:

I use Pimsleur on my way to and from work - a half-hour drive one way, so it's perfect - and I have never found a better language program.

Admittedly, I only got the full effect of the program after learning one language by complete, real-life immersion. But after I had a grasp of one language, Pimsleur allowed me to soar through French 1 in a month and now I'm wrapping up Romanian 1 - on unit 26. I'm now on unit 11 of French 2 and plan to continue through all 4 phases. Since Romanian 2 doesn't seem to exist (unfortunately!) I'll be starting Spanish 1 after finishing Romanian.

I LOVE the reading supplements that come with the courses; they're very effective.

The price is not bad at all, considering you learn a TON and develop a great accent for $100 a phase, whereas with a tutor you can spend up to $100 an hour and not be able to rewind. :) $400 for almost being fluent by the end of the phases compared to $1,000 for almost being able to form sentences in the present tense with a terrible accent. :)

Some complain that you can't see the speakers' mouths, so some sounds can be confused with others (for example: "was that an 'm' or an 'n'?"). But that's where the reading booklets come in! You can reference the booklet and see how to pronounce it by reading!

The only thing I'm disappointed with right now is the lack of Romanian phases! Luckily I know several people who speak Romanian (which is why I started learning it) so they'll be able to help me along now that I have foundational knowledge in the language. And with Pimsleur, I feel very confident in speaking the foreign languages I've learned with native speakers. I was actually complimented on my pronunciation by one of my Romanian friends!

I actively recommend Pimsleur to anyone who want to learn a language.

PLEASE PIMSLEUR! Make Romanian 2, 3, and 4!

      Great stuff.

Comments about Romanian Phase 1, Units 1-30:

I use this program almost every day to help study the language. I am at lesson 24 out of 30 and really enjoy the learning process. I have gone back to previous lessons and I am surprised that I can easily understand the conversations that were once very difficult.
