Comments about Portuguese (Brazilian) Phase 1, Unit 01-05:

I'm using Pimsleur to learn Brazilian Portuguese mostly for fun, but also to further myself by becoming blingual. I tried many different methods before coming to Pimsleur, and this definitely got the quickest results. The audio trainers made it a lot easier to understand some of the foreign sounds that an American ear can struggle with at first, and also made it easier to speak some of the sounds that an American mouth doesn't usually make.

Comments about Portuguese (Brazilian) Phase 1, Unit 01-05:

I'm off to Brazil soon. I've never once studied Portuguese. But This is effective language learning. I often wondered how effective these softwares like this could be...I haven't tried the others (too expensive) but I liked how I could buy a small sample (lessons 1-5) and decide for myself if it works, It does!

Comments about Port (Braz) Phase 1, Unit 01-05:

I have the lessons loaded up on my iPhone and listen to them while i drive, and while i go running. I am picking up the basics very quickly and within 3 lessons I was already talking in Portuguese to the hotel on a remote island, to plan my trip.

I'm only on lesson 10 and my flight leaves tomorrow for Brazil, and I feel confident that I can at least be polite as people in foreign countries are always forgiving if you at least try to speak their language. We are going to a few remote locations off the tourist path and will be able to ask for basic directions, money questions, etc.

The Brazilian Portuguese contains a very simple reading section which i also downloaded into my iphone, which basically shows how to pronounce certain sounds.

I also used the Croatian lessons when I went to Croatia and used what i learned really helped me when i was off the beaten path and also impressed the locals.

It was easier for me to download the materials through an app provided by a well known audio book company than by downloading it through itunes.
