Appropriate intro to Polish. Good pronounciation. To much emphasis on time and numbers. Would have preferred more general vocabulary and conversation rather than so much emphasis n time and numbers. Overall, useful to me. I used these before I visited Poland and fund the course to be very helpful.

I bought this program because I was interested in Polish and I have met many Polish people. I usually do not review products I buy online (laziness), but I HAD to make an exception here. This will be a long review, so jump around and read specific parts if you don't have time.
I saw the commercial online for Pimsleur. This is one of the best investments I have ever made. The lessons are simple and easy to learn from. I spoke to my girlfriend, who is fluent in Polish, immediately after the first lesson. She was floored, saying I sounded like a native speaker. I have been told that, although my vocabulary is small, my accent is very good. Of course, this is not my doing, but the method Pimsleur uses to teach the words.
The reader/buyer should know that to gain complete command of the language, you need to go through all of the comprehensive programs Pimsleur offers. Unfortunately, Polish only had the Comprehensive 1 Program.
I would also like to add how richer this program makes you. I know that sounds romantic, but this is truth. Learning a language, especially at the caliber Pimsleur teaches, gives you a NEED to learn culture and history. Because you learn so well and speak natively, it spurred you on to learn more about the culture. I have learned so much about Poland simply because I felt compelled to after going through my Conversational Program. I am sure this is the same with all their languages.
As is customary in a review, I will provide PROs and CONs.
PROs:
EASY TO MASTER-there is no studying, no review, just listening. Pimsleur really has created a revolutionary program.
SIMPLICITY-listening to a lesson is not work; you simply repeat and then learn. I can currently respond to questions without even thinking because it had been drilled into my head, subconsciously.
LISTEN FROM YOUR IPOD- this is a little strange if you are around people, but the files go easily onto an MP3 player
LITTLE COMMITMENT- with lessons only 30 minutes a day, it is not difficult to learn. I played this at work during lunchbreaks. The only thing to know is it is easy to "fall out" of practice. This is okay, but make sure you do a lesson every few days, especially in the beginning.
CHEAP- this program does teach you how to speak, though it does seem expensive. Trust me, it is not. Other programs out there are MORE expensive and are difficult, time-consuming, and do not even teach you as much. Stick with Pimsleur.
CONS
SOME LANGUAGES DO NOT HAVE HIGH LEVELS- with Polish, as I stated early, you can only get Comprehensive 1. I would buy Comprehensive Polish 2, 3 and 4 pretty much instantly if they had these programs available.
NO VISUALS-this is not a problem, but only a mention. A visual would be a good supplement, and I found myself wanting one about 5% of the time. However, if you are a visual learner, this may be a problem. I found that if you just do a quick internet search, you can look up any questions you have, making a visual aid redundant.
BORING IF YOU NEED TO REPEAT-*this is not a problem by Pimsleur*. The tracks give you time to respond. Sometimes, it is not needed. However, there are times where you will have to pause and think because you cannot remember. If you skip days, which is fine, you may have to repeat a lesson.
In conclusion, I honestly cannot think of CONS to the Pimsleur Program. I will be buying another language that has 3 or 4 levels of Comphrehensive soon, spending about $800 or more. I will do this without a second thought. Pimsleur is worth EVERY penny.
I hope this review was helpful. I recommend EVERY SINGLE PERSON should at least try a lesson, and better yet, learn a language with this incredible company.
