Mandarin Chinese Phase 3 includes another 15 hours of spoken language practice and one additional hour of culture notes, and is designed is designed to be used after completion of Phases 1 and 2.
- The beginning of Phase 3 offers you the chance to further expand your vocabulary and increase your fluency to an even higher level. In these lessons, you’ll gain experience participating in many informal and some formal discussions on practical, social, and semiprofessional topics. You’ll skillfully form longer, more complex sentences, and most importantly, you’ll find yourself being understood, even by native speakers unused to dealing with foreigners. Understanding a large amount of the conversations you hear, you’ll be able to join in effortlessly, confident of being understood.

Delving deeper into cultural norms and situations, you’ll find yourself responding without thinking, and able to choose from a wide accumulation of vocabulary and structures.
- In the final 10 lessons of Phase 3, you are nearing fluency with agile responses, and a natural-sounding, nearnative accent. You’re able to utilize the language in more subtle ways, and speak consistently using past, present, and future tenses appropriately. Selfconfidence soars as you experience the language and culture; no longer as a foreigner, but with a deepening insight into an expanding new world.
One hour of recorded Culture Notes are included at the end of Unit 30. These Notes are designed to provide you with some insight into Chinese culture. A Notes Booklet is also included in PDF format.

Comments about Chinese (Man) Phase 3, Units 1-30:
I love to listen to Pimsleur while I'm driving. I really like the Phase 1 and Phase 2 sets, and Phase 3 is good, but contains too much repetition from Phase 2. I wish it introduced more new vocabulary. I can repeat lessons whenever I want or need repetition.

Comments about Chinese (Man) Phase 3, Units 1-30:
I own phases 1,2,3. I was dabbling for about a year with phase one.
But for the last month I've been living in China. I've been listening to about 5 hours a day and listening to whilst sleeping. A bit full on I know.
But it's frustrating for me not been able to communicate. And within a month
I'm starting to understand native speakers and speak many statements and carry out small conversations. All within a month. I have tried every app under the sun and other methods but this approach so easily engages you. I can't really imagine a better way to learn a language. It's a bit like training wheels on a bike. I can see them soon being taken off.

Comments about Chinese (Man) Phase 3, Units 1-30:
I use the product daily. It is a great tool to supplement my learning. It is the sole reason that my chinese is catching on so quickly, however, the 3 phases barely scratch the surface of the Chinese language iceberg!!! I want more phase to continue my development in the language.
Thanks,
Stephen

Comments about Chinese (Man) Phase 3, Units 1-30:
I have spent a year with Rosetta Stone and got nowhere. It is terribly simplistic, confusing to understand, inconvenient to use and expensive. Its just not an effective way to learn a language no matter what the commercials say. Pimsleur has none of these issues. I have learned and kept the lessons to memory. It does not teach how to read or the grammar but is ideal for basic conversational chinese just as it promised. Highly recommended.
