Comments about Chinese (Man) Phase 1, Unit 26-30:

I am 70 and not exactly in my language-learning prime, but I'd still say the Pimsleur CDs work. I am now on the next-to-last lesson of Level I, having bought both a starter set from [@] and additional downloads from Pimsleur. I hope to listen to all the discs one or two more times before I leave for China for three weeks, and then I'll know for sure what I've learned. ... I have used the CDs in my car, which was about the only way I could work them into my life. ... My one complaint would be lack of a printed dictionary of the words on the CDs -- and yes, I know that the Pimsleur method does not believe in consulting printed materials. However, I am a visual learner and have found that looking words up in a Chinese dictionary helped me not only remember them but also to hear them more accurately on the CDs. Trouble is, other beginner dictionaries don't necessarily have the same set of words as the Pimsleur CDs.
