Comments about Lithuanian, Compact:
I found it extremely difficult to find Lithuanian personal tutors or programs online - Pimsleur is one of the only products offering any kind of Lithuanian instruction. I had used Pimsleur in the past for Egyptian Arabic and it was extremely helpful in improving my communication skills in Egypt, and with plans to travel to Lithuania soon, I knew it would be useful.
The best thing about this product is the Pimsleur method itself - how the language is taught gradually, building on previous units and vocabulary rather than through grammar lessons and memorization. I always remember what I learn with Pimsleur, and I was able to effectively use it as a jumping off point for more Lithuanian language instruction, which is nonetheless very hard to find.
Service and delivery comments:
What I liked least about it is that only 10 units are offered, which is extremely limiting. Really it's just a taster of Lithuanian, not even a full introduction really, as simple, common verbs like "to go", or "to have" are not taught yet within the short span of 10 units. Also the more casual, common form of "you" that you'd use with friends and family is not taught.
Further units are badly needed and I sincerely hope Pimsleur continues with this series, especially in light of how difficult Lithuanian language instruction is to come by in general.

Comments about Lithuanian Phase 1, Units 1-10:
I'll admit I didn't do it in exactly 10 days, I had a few days that I missed but I picked up where I left off, and I did almost every lesson twice. BUT it worked, and it sticks and I learned a lot more Lithuanian with this than I learned German(another language I learned) with other methods in the same amount of time.
It needs more levels, but what's there is great.
Out of 100, I'd give it 94

Comments about Lithuanian Phase 1, Units 1-10:
The Pimsleur language program for Lithuanian really works and has given me quick, basic speaking ability. It has also given me the ability to develop good pronunciation skills. I have even impressed one of my Lithuanian friends and I am only 50% complete with the Phase 1 program. I am very impressed with the program.

Comments about Lithuanian Phase 1, Units 1-10:
It's good enough to get by with the basics but it IS very formal as opposed to the friendly good natured dialect ALL Lithuanians speak. Great if you were greeting royalty or wealthy but as I said very formal for the every day speaker.
Pros
- Easy to use
Cons
- Not what I expected
Best Uses
- Family background/Heritage
Comments about Lithuanian, Compact:
Over the five hours you only learn about 100-150 words. You won't be able to visit lithuania after this. You basicially can eat and drink, it is nice to be able to ask someone if they want something to drink or if they want to go to the cathedral square. I think the only reason this sells is that there is nothing else out there. So with no competition Pimsleur does not feel the need to improved the product and develop more content. Overall, less than satisfying, but what is your other option....nothing?
