I started dating a girl from Lithuania while she was in the US for the summer. I wanted to show off by learning some of her language. I had a half hour commute to work so the lessons fit into that time nicely. The first lesson kicked my butt. I had to repeat it 4-5 times before I got 90% of the review words right. Just talk out loud while driving alone and repeat everything over and over again. It got better with the other lessons and after two weeks I walked up to her and asked her in Lithuanian how she was doing. I freaked her out because I had no accent. I keep waiting for advanced lessons to be released. We've been married for 8 years and the most words I've learned was from this first set. It's really just a hundred words or so. Just enough to survive. I want to speak the language. Keep making more.

I enjoyed Pimsleur's Czech Phase 1 (Lessons 1-30) so much that when I learned I would be moving to Lithuania I knew I had to try Lithuanian Phase 1. And I have enjoyed those 10 lessons. But here's my complaint, there are only 10 lessons. Please produce another 20 or more Lithuanian lessons.

Comments about Lithuanian Phase 1, Units 1-10:

What is good is the pace of the lessons. What is bad is that I cannot load it into my walkman; so I must sit at my desk computer to use the program. I really don't like this.

Comments about Lithuanian Phase 1, Units 1-10:

I not only use this system on my computer but I also have it on my iPod so I can practice as I am doing chores around home. I find the method of breaking the words into syllables very effective.

      Great product!

      Service and delivery comments:

This is a great learning tool. It has been fun and easy to learn. Even though you may have to replay a lesson, you finally understand the pronunciation of the words and phrases. I like the encouragement of gaining the 80% proficiency before moving onto the next lesson. I am so impressed with the Lithuanian program. I have the ability and confidence to learn this new language. Thank you for putting together this language set.

      Comments about Lithuanian, Compact:

I found it extremely difficult to find Lithuanian personal tutors or programs online - Pimsleur is one of the only products offering any kind of Lithuanian instruction. I had used Pimsleur in the past for Egyptian Arabic and it was extremely helpful in improving my communication skills in Egypt, and with plans to travel to Lithuania soon, I knew it would be useful.

The best thing about this product is the Pimsleur method itself - how the language is taught gradually, building on previous units and vocabulary rather than through grammar lessons and memorization. I always remember what I learn with Pimsleur, and I was able to effectively use it as a jumping off point for more Lithuanian language instruction, which is nonetheless very hard to find.

      Service and delivery comments:

What I liked least about it is that only 10 units are offered, which is extremely limiting. Really it's just a taster of Lithuanian, not even a full introduction really, as simple, common verbs like "to go", or "to have" are not taught yet within the short span of 10 units. Also the more casual, common form of "you" that you'd use with friends and family is not taught.

Further units are badly needed and I sincerely hope Pimsleur continues with this series, especially in light of how difficult Lithuanian language instruction is to come by in general.
