    Comments about Japanese Phases 1-3:

The audio lessons helped to really put the language into my head. Often times I would be walking around and think "if somebody tried to talk to me in japanese right now, how well could I respond with that I know?" At times like those I easily recalled much of what I learned, even though I haven't done the lessons nearly as regularly as recommended.

The program definitely put the langauge into my head, and I highly recommend this to anybody that wants to learn Japanese, or even a language in general. Pimsleur is one of the best out there, if not vying to be the best.

    Comments about Japanese Phases 1-3:

I have it loaded on an mp3 player and listen to it on my way to work, five days a week. Been going for about four months and I'm about 60% through all three courses. A little slow because I often replay the lesson so I feel more comfortable with it.

      Comments about Japanese I-III:

I usually listen to the CDs when driving. I have finished 10 CDs and am able to absorb 90%+ of the contents.

The organization of the CD contents are wonderful, which matches my learning curve.

I am actually expecting more. Audio is important, but visual also is important. Vocabulary is another big key and hard part of learning a new language. Here are what I am looking for.

      1) A good and large volume text book which presents the key vocabulary and expressions matching the CDs in the similar or same order.

A simple reason of this is: when I learn a new Japanese word (multiple syllabus), I have to find an English or Chinese word to map it, so it is easy for me to recall it. The cons of doing in this way include that a) the pronunciation may not be accurate, and b) the imperfect first impression may not be wiped out or corrected for a long time.

Please note: There are some Japanese text books on market. I bought one but do not like it. It has a lengthy description of Japanese and its features... I am expecting a large volume of text book, which presents me the writing of the vocabulary and expressions, part by part, and section by section. I do not want to memorize the theoretical features...
      2) More advanced and complicated longer conversation or narration in a different situation. As an analogy, the similar materials are those used in TSE or TOEFL tests.

I truly want to master Japanese in a short period of time (say, a few months). For this sake, I would like to pay whatever I have to pay.

I live in Japan and need to learn the words for every day conversation. I really enjoy this product. Expensive, but worth it.
