Can learning another language be as easy as speaking your own? Yes with Pimsleur it’s that easy. Learn on your own time, at your own pace, and wherever you choose. Japanese Phase 1, Units 2125 build on material taught in prior units. Each lesson provides 30 minutes of spoken language practice, with an introductory conversation, and new vocabulary and structures. Detailed instructions enable you to understand and participate in the conversation. Each lesson contains practice for vocabulary introduced in previous lessons. Comments about Japanese Phase 1, Unit 21-25:
I had studied Japanese many years ago in college, but forgot most of it due to a lack of practice. When I decided to re-learn the language, I started by borrowing CDs from the local library. There were four different language programs available, but the PIMSLEUR method was by far the most effective. I really enjoy listening to the lessons. I always listen to two lessons in a row, then repeat one of the previous lessons. I just finished lesson 20 and am very happy with my progress.
The PIMSLEUR method is much more methodical than other methods. It timing is much better: there is a realistic pause after every question, so that I don't have to use my hands to pause all the time, which is quite annoying on some other programs. This allows me to work on Japanese while I do my workouts or wash dishes, etc.

I do one lesson a day and over a course of just over three months I can understand complex sentences with correct grammar. I can understand my anime, talk and order at a Japanese restaurant. Better than Rosetta Stone.

Comments about Japanese Phase 1, Unit 21-25:
Sometimes the speakers talk too fast and not clearly in the opening lesson conversations. It is very frustrating. I sure would like a transcript of the lessons. Generally I enjoy the lessons and I'm now in 2nd set of 30 lessons. I'll repeat - it sure would be good to get a transcript.
