    Comments about Japanese, Conversational:

Use: I listen to this program in the car. Good for a 20 minute drive each way. I listen to another language in the evenings.

Pros: The pricing and length was just right to determine if this method worked with my learning style.
The pace of learning was good. I think the right number of words were introduced in each section to challenge the memory but not ovewhelm. The first few lessons were a one-time use but the later sections required about 2 days for me to complete with enough confidence. I did not mind replaying the CD because the learning was complex enough to make me think. I did not get bored with the interactive learning at any time.
The CD case this program came with was easy to transport. The size is just right for 1/2 a phase. I will continue to use the case for my upper level Pimsleur CDs even after I'm done with the first 16 lessons.

Some of the conversations are quite comical when viewed as a single string of dialogue. A few times I did lose my composure and had to rewind after I was done laughing.

I had some trouble with the two speakers. The man an woman say things differently so I was occasionally confused on the proper pronunciation of a word. As an example: In this language, the male gives his word endings a close-lipped "m" sound while the female gives her word endings a high-tongue "n" sound for the same word. The difference in speakers is both a blessing and a curse. Having slightly different pronunciations does teach the listener to hear the important points of a word apart from variations in phonemes.

Cons: Sometimes the pauses were not long enough for me to think and remember all of the words. I'm normally someone who will think through and practice my native English phrases in my head before responding in about the same time gap as I found the CD waiting for me to speak Japanese. Because of that, I found the responses to be just a bit rushed for my speed.
The content over 16 lessons seems a bit sparse to be called "conversational." I would not, however, expect much more from only 8 hours of trying to learn a language.

Overall: I recommend this program to those exploring a new language. If you want to get your feet wet, this is a reasonably priced solution, but expect to need more training before carrying on an involved conversation with anyone in this language. I have purchased the full comprehensive course and expect good results.

      Comments about Japanese, Conversational:

We bought this to prepare for our upcoming trip to visit our son who lives in Japan. He dates a Japanese young lady who speaks no English. We were a bit skeptical of the program but bought it anyway. Thirty minutes a day works. If you keep your commitment, the program will do the rest. Excellent review each unit with just enough new material to keep it interesting and keep you moving forward.

        Comments about Japanese, Conversational:

I have been using this product with my children ages 7 & 9yr and all three of us are learning to speak Japanese. It is a great way for kids to learn a new language bc it is entirely auditory, practical and repetitive. My kids are already able to say a number of phrases and we only started a few weeks ago. Very happy with this method!
