By Phase 1, lesson 5 I was feeling a little like getting back to Rosetta Stone, but at lesson 6, it clicked. I was actually speaking Italian, unpo. I used it everyday as suggested.
I really liked the non-intimidating manner it is presented, the amount of time that is required was not restrictive (30 minute sessions, done). I purchased the MP3 Phase 2 which to my surprise was much less than the CD Phase 1 I bought a while ago. I am traveling to Italy, staying for 2 months and bringing it with me in itunes. Love it.
The pronunciation list of words was very useful in helping to picture the way a word was said and begin to see words spelled in my minds eye.
I like the fact that it's mobile and you start right where you left off anywhere any time. You aren't a slave to one computer or computer desktop station.
One draw back is that I felt the need to look up spelling after the sessions even though I was saying the words correctly, but couldn't quite figure out how it was spelled. That is probably just my own personal learning style. As I mentioned in the likes, spelling became apparent when I learned proper pronunciation of the language alphabet using the pronunciation word list printout beginning with Lesson 11 or 12.

Mostly a well constructed course which, if approached with some rigor, will get you started on a quest to learn another language. My principle complaint centers around the absence of written reference material. There will often be words or a phrases similar in sound but differing in context, tense or singular as opposed to plural. I would have found the course less frustrating in this respect if each lesson was accompanied by a written text of the subject matter.

Comments about Italian Phase 2, Units 1-30:
I've travelled a lot to Italy and could handle basic phrases. What eluded me was remembering correct tenses -- which word for "us", "them" etc.. Pimsleur II was absolutely perfect because for the first time I seamlessly could remember and use the right word at the right time and I learned some past tense too! The proof was when I carried on a conversation with a native speaker and got complimented!
I used Pimsleur II exactly as instructed: 30 min everyday. Sometimes I would listen twice to the same lesson while out for a walk. This is by far the easiest and most effective language learning tool I've ever tried. I highly recommend it and will be purchasing level III

Comments about Italian Phase 2, Units 1-30:
I like being able to do each lesson more than once and i love the review of the earlier units as you go along. This is a great addition to my Italian classes. I play these units while driving in the car. I'm looking forward to becoming proficient at Phase 2 to move onto Phase 3 before my next trip to visit my cousins in Italia!

Comments about Italian Phase 2, Units 1-30:
I'm following the course as directed and do believe I'm learning to speak Italian correctly.
The key for me are the repetition of basic verbal structures that people use in everyday conversation. I've always had a pretty good vocabulary, but couldn't put those words together in conversation.

Comments about Italian II, Comprehensive:
I use the product as suggested: 30 minutes a day per lesson. More than that would overwhelm. What I really like is the way previous material is re-introduced. That way it's not "forgotten." At times the responses from the speakers seem too fast but, if you consider, that's the way of normal conversation.
