Description
Includes 30 lessons and reading instruction (16 hours) as MP3 download, plus PDF user's guide and reading booklet
Hebrew, a Semitic language, is the official language of Israel. It was once considered a dead language with no native speakers, although it remained in use for liturgical purposes. Hebrew was revived as a spoken language in the mid 19th century and today is spoken by over 5 million in Israel.
The Pimsleur® Method is scientifically proven to be your fastest route to nearnative fluency. Hebrew Phase 3 includes another 15 hours of spoken language practice and one additional hour of reading instruction, and is designed to be used after completion of Phases 1 and 2.
- The beginning lessons of Phase 3 offer you the chance to expand your vocabulary and increase your fluency to an even higher level. You’ll gain experience participating in many informal and some formal discussions on practical, social, and semiprofessional topics. You’ll skillfully form longer, more complex sentences, and most importantly, you’ll find yourself being understood, even by native speakers unused to dealing with foreigners. You’ll be able to join in conversations effortlessly, confident of being understood.
- In the next 10 lessons of Phase 3 your skills will show everincreasing mastery of the language. Speaking with grace and complete naturalness, you’ll enjoy fluid conversations on many new subjects. Delving deeper into cultural norms and situations, you’ll find yourself responding effortlessly, and able to choose from a wide accumulation of vocabulary and structures.
- In the final 10 lessons of Phase 3, you’re nearing fluency with agile responses, and a naturalsounding, nearnative accent. You’re able to utilize the language in subtle ways, and speak using past, present, and future tenses. Selfconfidence soars as you experience the language and culture; no longer as a foreigner, but with a deepening insight into an expanding new world.
Reading Lessons are included at the end of Unit 30. These lessons, which total about one hour, are designed to give you practice reading Hebrew and to provide vocabulary. Before you know it, you’ll be reading Hebrew with the ease and flexibility of a native speaker. A Reading Booklet to be used with the audio lessons is also included in PDF format.

Comments about Hebrew Phase 3, Units 1-30:
Very good at teaching grammar and correct sentence structure. Very helpful in learning to pronounce Hebrew words.
I am about half way through level 3. The conversations however are very limited and narrow in their scope, for example telephone conversations, ordering in restaurants and business meetings.
I also wish that more vocabulary was taught in each lesson.
The readings for level three are too simple.
I really like the fact that it is complete in itself and you can do it anywhere you go and at any time.

Comments about Hebrew (Modern) III, Comprehensive:
I just finished Hebrew (Modern) I. First let me say that this is an excellent program, and I have done well with this program more than any other that I have tried. The repitition is really what makes this program great. It really lets you perfect the accent because of this.
Second, just a few minor drawbacks. There is no printed text, so I found myself searching a translation site for spellings, and even then, sometimes the pronunciation didn't match the spelling. With this being said, I do feel that it in some way reinforces what I am learning so I didn't mind. I also kept a Hebrew/English dictionary on hand.
Next, I feel that this program may be difficult for those learners who are not versed in the Hebrew alphabet. I feel that acquiring a good knowledge of the alphabet beforehand would be extremely helpful to the learner.
Lastly, I bought the MP3 version and had trouble downloading it. The solution is this: Before downloading, DELETE your Java Script from your computer; THEN, download the newest version of Java; then download your MP3. If you try to download the latest version of Java and have it over-ride your current version, the MP3 won't work. You must delete all Java first and download the latest version.
Overall, I plan to continue with this program and expect great success ! I have enjoyed this program to the fullest !

Comments about Hebrew Phase 3, Units 1-30:
I had borrowed the first 2 levels of Hebrew from my local library a few years ago and was disappointed that there was no next level at that time. Level 3 is great. I listen to each lesson for at least a week, often longer, until I move on to the next lesson. Then periodically I listen to them all again, beginning with
the first lesson in the set. I am definitely increasing my vocabulary and feel able to construct longer sentences. I do wish there was a written guide to the dialogues. As a visual learner, I need to see the words printed out. I end up using the google translator to make sure I am pronouncing the words properly. More than once I learned that the way I was hearing it on the CD is not the way it was actually being said.
