Hebrew, a Semitic language, is the official language of Israel. It was once considered a dead language with no native speakers, although it remained in use for liturgical purposes. Hebrew was revived as a spoken language in the mid 19th century and today is spoken by over 5 million in Israel.

Hebrew, Conversational

  • Sixteen 30-minute lessons of spoken Hebrew language instruction. These sixteen lessons are the same as the first sixteen lesson of Pimsleur's 30-Unit Comprehensive Program.
  • Each lesson includes an introductory conversation, and new vocabulary and structures and includes practice for vocabulary introduced in previous lessons.
  • Essential grammar and vocabulary. Topics include: greetings, numbers, meals, shopping, telling time, scheduling activities, and asking and giving directions.
  • No mindless repetition! Converse with native speakers in natural (and useful!) conversations.
  • Easy, fast, fun and effective language acquisition.
  • Completely Audio - anytime, anywhere. No computer necessary! Unlike expensive software programs which tie learners to a computer, Pimsleur courses are available in CD or mp3 format to meet your needs.

    Comments about Hebrew, Conversational:

Bought the program since we were visiting the country. The words and phrases immediately warmed the conversations with the natives. They smiled and obviously appreciated the effort to commun8icate in their language.
On older woman said with surprise "Oh, you speak Hebrew!", whick I didn't rally, but the smile and appreciation of the effort was priceless.
One waiter took the time to helpfully correct my pronounciation. Our efforts with his language broke the ice and made the meal much more pleasant than it might have been. He doted on us and made our meal most enjoyable.

      Comments about Hebrew, Conversational:

I am about halfway on Level 1. It is great for doing something constructive while driving around. I feel I have learned a lot already. When it gets difficult, I review over and again until I am ready to move on. I pause the CD often when they move on too fast for me to recall my own answers, In other words I need more time to think than a few seconds sometimes. I feel this is important in order to properly learn. So far I really feel I am learning well. I plan to continue even once Level 1 is complete. I highly recommend this quality Pimsleur course. Shalom.

      Comments about Hebrew, Conversational:

I love this program. I use the CD's in my car - dead time anyway - and learn. I have been taking group Hebrew lessons for a year but that was for reading - not for convesation. This program is teaching me, easily and quickly, how to carry on conversations now!!! It is easy and each lesson is only 30 minutes - so doable as you are driving. The only thing I am not crazy about is that there are some words - not many - that would help me to know how to spell them because the translation is hard to remember.

          Comments about Hebrew, Conversational:

I am trying to learn conversational Hebrew. The format of the tape has been very helpful. One can hear native language speakers, practice their own responses, and hear the repetition of the language so necessary in beginning to understand and speak.
