    Comments about Greek (Modern), Q&S:

The villagers on the island of Tinos were very impressed with my Greek! Some of them even thought I was Greek when they met me in Kardiani. This product is fantastic. I'm told I am learning more of the Athenian Greek than the island lingo, but there is nothing wrong with that.

Please, please, make a Greek 3. I want to keep learning more. The product really works, but to achieve near fluency, we need more lessons.

    Comments about Greek (Modern), Q&S:

I used the Pimsleur Greek I and II programs as a supplemental material for learning Modern Greek, with a native speaker as a tutor and with two excellent grammar books as my primary learning tools. The Pimsleur program was useful in giving me practice with low-level conversational skills and certain vocabulary. However, I don't know how happy I would have been with it, had I expected to learn the language with Pimsleur alone. By the time any grammatical concept showed up in the recorded conversations, I already had learned about it from my books or my teacher. Greek grammar is quite complex and in many ways unlike English, and there is no way I could have learned it from Pimsleur alone, which means I would probably have been stuck repeating the set phrases I had learned without being able to interchange the elements correctly.

Also, even after finishing the whole program through IIB, I would have had a very limited vocabulary had I relied on Pimsleur alone. Furthermore, since I remember things much better when I have seen them in writing, I needed to stop and look up each new vocabulary word and find out how to spell it in order to be able to remember it.

The main benefit of the Pimsleur program for me was repeatedly listening to and saying what was in the program. I enjoyed doing each lesson several times over, while doing housework or other chores that left my attention free. The recorded speakers have infinite patience, and I like the method of pronouncing words syllable by syllable, starting at the end of the word. These tools helped me practice speaking and listening skills when my teacher was unavailable.

So I found this satisfactory and worth doing, but only as part of a larger learning program.
