Comments about German Phase 2, Unit 01-05:

The review/slow build of new material of each lesson works well for me.

Well-paced introductions of new material. Diction clear. Some variation in accents/pronunciation, which is important to the listening experience.

The publisher should beef-up the written material---many words and phrases appear nowhere in the accompanying text. That Pimsleur stresses it uses an aural approach to learning a language, and so seeing the words written out is unnecessary does the adult learner no favors. Since in speaking letters are dropped, mispronounced, or elided, being able to see the actual orthography is important.

In my experience, and this is my fifth language, Pimsleur vastly underestimates the amount of repetition needed to speak a lesson with some ease. My LEAST times are around eight, and go up from there.

I think it is a serious program. I plan on moving on to Level III.
