    Comments about French Phases 1-3:

I have been studying French for 25+ years and have been EXTENSIVELY through most of the similar products available and have completed several weeks of immersion school in France as well as extensive travel in Francophone countries. Of all the courses I have purchased, the Pimsleur courses have allowed me to speak/listen and formulate conversation in the most efficient and common-sense way (just like you learned your first language). Above all the Pimsleur course gave me the confidence to have conversations with french-speaking people in other countries (and they actually understood me!). Even after all these years, I will still go back and "run through" the French series to brush away the cob-webs. In fact, my first Pimsleur course was on cassettes, and thanks to their excellent "trade up" program, I now have a digital series on my iPhone. Do it every day- and stick to it! Do the reading exercises as well (helps your pronunciation). The only drawback I found was that early on I could speak much better that understand spoken French. This is a matter of experience with the language and letting your ear "mature". Don't sweat that either- it will come with persistence. Good luck!

    Service and delivery comments:

Very happy there now is a French 4!
I would suggest (strongly) that you include stories or long conversation as part of your French II through IV. My only issue (albeit 15 years ago when I truly first found Pimsleur and discovered there was more to French than my high school taught me) was that with the Pimsleur system I could produce speech, and convey what I was thinking well enough, but when a french speaker answered- oh boy! I couldn't keep up! I tried other products ie Mastering French, that had dialogues to listen to, and tried french movies etc., but often that speech was again too far advanced. If there were something a bit more sophisticated than your short dialogues before each lesson, and gradually more complex as one moves from french II to IV, you would have a grand-slam (I feel you already have a home-run!).
Thanks for a truly great product!

    Comments about French Phases 1-3:

I have used French 1,2 and 3 plus German 1-4 , Spanish 1-2 and Italian 1 so far, and used the languages in each country. I mostly learned/listened to in my car and on an i-pod when traveling.I have been able to speak well with natives in each country. I have tried other programs, but pimsleur's are the easiest way to learn how to converse and function in many social settings. I recomment them highly, esspecially for somenne who is busy sunce they do not require you to sit by a computer for hours on end.

      Comments about French Phases 1-3:

Just follow the instructions: listen, respond, do it every day, and be sure to give the lessons your full attention. It is not a program for multi-tasking; although repeat lessons can be effective while doing mindless things simultaneously. Also do not pick up a text book. Reading will only slow you down and interfere with the listening/responding process that is modeled upon the way you learned your first language.

        Comments about French Phases 1-3:

30 minutes in the car every day - and it even surprised me how much I learned in a few months. Completed all 90 lessons, and while I wouldn't call myself fluent, I know how to have a basic conversation in French! I'm amazed, and it makes me want to learn even more!
