Description
Includes 30 lessons and reading instruction (16 hours) as MP3 download, plus PDF user's guide and reading booklet
French is an official language in 44 countries. It is spoken by 55 million people in France, 3 million in Belgium, 1.5 million in Switzerland, 6.5 million in Canada, and 5 million in former French + Belgian colonies. It is also an official language of the U.N.
The Pimsleur® Method is scientifically proven to be your fastest route to nearnative fluency. French Phase 3 includes another 15 hours of spoken language practice and one additional hour of reading instruction, and is designed to be used after completion of Phases 1 and 2.
- The beginning lessons of Phase 3 offer you the chance to expand your vocabulary and increase your fluency to an even higher level. You’ll gain experience participating in many informal and some formal discussions on practical, social, and semiprofessional topics. You’ll skillfully form longer, more complex sentences, and most importantly, you’ll find yourself being understood, even by native speakers unused to dealing with foreigners. You’ll be able to join in conversations effortlessly, confident of being understood.
- In the next 10 lessons of Phase 3 your skills will show everincreasing mastery of the language. Speaking with grace and complete naturalness, you’ll enjoy fluid conversations on many new subjects. Delving deeper into cultural norms and situations, you’ll find yourself responding effortlessly, and able to choose from a wide accumulation of vocabulary and structures.
- In the final 10 lessons of Phase 3, you’re nearing fluency with agile responses, and a naturalsounding, nearnative accent. You’re able to utilize the language in subtle ways, and speak using past, present, and future tenses. Selfconfidence soars as you experience the language and culture; no longer as a foreigner, but with a deepening insight into an expanding new world.
Reading Lessons are included at the end of Unit 30. These lessons, which total about one hour, are designed to give you practice reading French and to provide vocabulary. Before you know it, you’ll be reading French with the ease and flexibility of a native speaker. A Reading Booklet to be used with the audio lessons is also included in PDF format.

Comments about French Phase 3, Units 1-30:
I love this as it builds confidence and teaches you to learn a language that you to begin with will help you with daily conversation. You have to stick to it everyday to make progress. If you are committed to spending half an hour a day then go for this and dont waste your time on other products. You must also remember that this is not the only mode of learning you will at some point want to read books(I started with nursery books and comics) and newspapers to supplement your learning.

Great product! For those of us with traditional classes - together with some dyslexia, this is fantastic. Listening and speaking works. Daily use is the best.

Comments about French Phase 3, Units 1-30:
I love the program, but am not sure if I am bright enough to get everything out of the individual chapters in only 1/2 hour of listening to the text. I have to admit for me I always go back to the previous days lesson before starting the new lesson of the day. It helps with getting my hearing in tune with the new lesson. Also I find sometimes that there are phrases incorporated that are not translated and that always confuses me a little. I just wish I knew if I am progressing properly or not. I certainly cannot speak as fast and as proficient as the people speaking who introduce each lesson and that makes me feel very inept. I still love the program. Part of my problem may stem from knowing the grammar and I fall back on translation instead of just depending on the listening. I am also 80yrs old and that may have something to do with it. regards Mr. Sheehan

I've formally studied four foreign langauges, and the Pimsleur program is the best thing I've ever experienced for actually learning how to speak, short of eating dinner every day with a native speaker.

Comments about French Phase 3, Units 1-30:
I attended a language school in Italy as an undergraduate that used similar methods. This is the best way to learn a new language. I do most of these lessons while driving and I am progressing very nicely. I've done several other Pimsleur courses and all have been very effective. Even when I speak French on the phone I am well understood. I am looking forward to French 4.
