Comments about French Phase 1, Unit 16-20:

since I use it when I drive to work it has been a good experience overall.
I think the reading lessons are just about useless since they don't tell you what the words or phrases mean and don't repeat how to pronounce the phrases.
The program would be a lot better if it had more explainations of how and why words are conjugated, I understand they are trying to mimic how a child learns but a child picks it up over many years if there were better verbal explainations and/or reading lessons it could be understood much faster.
Overall though since I listen to it on my long drives to work it has worked out okay

Comments about French Phase 1, Unit 16-20:

I have used a variety of language learning systems, both as a student and a teacher in college and language schools. In my experience, Pimsleur has been the best so far.

From my perspective, this method has hit the nail on the head by "encoding" language into the brain in a similar way as we learned it as children or young teens.

I try to do one lesson per weekday on my way back and forth during my commute instead of listening to music or radio programs.

like it but need written narrative of conversations so I can see word boundaries. also would like translation for reading lists so they are more useful to me and I can learn more vocabulary

Comments about French Phase 1, Unit 16-20:

I use Pimsleur in the car every day, and I sometimes use it even while I ride my bike. I started with Lesson 1. Seven weeks later I am already on Lesson 28.

The great thing is that I am learning French and having fun at the same time. I actually look forward to the lessons, and I find myself parked in the garage not wanting to quit. Compared to the fiasco that was my one-year French course in college (49 years ago!), Pimsleur is like a miracle.

The one minor weakness is already very well known and very often decried: Pimsleur refuses to provide transcripts. While it hinders learning, the refusal is a rational business decision. With transcripts available it would be too easy for crooks to reproduce the lessons and drive Pimsleur out of business. Crooks will always be with us, so there it probably nothing that can be done about it.

Comments about French Phase 1, Unit 16-20:

My family and I started with the introductory, Conversational French, lessons 1 through 16, and were "hooked," as they say. Having used a variety of other programs, this is the best! I proceeded to purchase the online, digital lessons, starting with 16 through 30. The purchase part went smooth, but downloading the digital lessons was pure pain! I am very computer savy and use both an IBM and Mac. I had to download the lessons a total of ten times to get all of my stuff. That is too bad because I think this is the best language program out there, especially for beginners.
