Comments about Pimsleur Arabic (Egy) Phase 1, Units 1-30:

I am using this program to be able to have simple conversational skills with some friends, and with some family members who are moving from Egypt to our area. When trying it out with my Egyptian husband, he grinned and laughed with amusement and delight that his American wife can sound so "Egyptian".

Because the speed is too fast for a beginner, I imported the mp3s into sound editing software (Audacity) and slowed it down by 15% to be able to prounce it as a beginner, and then sped it up until I can pronounce it as fast as a native speaker. I also will type out a transcript, because it helps to visually understand the pronunciation differences for the Cairo dialect vs. fushaah (modern standard Arabic).

Service and delivery comments:

Have options for slow, medium, and regular rate of speech, as well as include a transcript with diacritics, for those who know how to read Arabic.

And I wish that this dialect had Level II and Level III, just as the "Eastern Arabic" (Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine) version has.
