Comments about Port (Braz) Phase 1, Unit 01-05:
I have the lessons loaded up on my iPhone and listen to them while i drive, and while i go running. I am picking up the basics very quickly and within 3 lessons I was already talking in Portuguese to the hotel on a remote island, to plan my trip.
I'm only on lesson 10 and my flight leaves tomorrow for Brazil, and I feel confident that I can at least be polite as people in foreign countries are always forgiving if you at least try to speak their language. We are going to a few remote locations off the tourist path and will be able to ask for basic directions, money questions, etc.
The Brazilian Portuguese contains a very simple reading section which i also downloaded into my iphone, which basically shows how to pronounce certain sounds.
I also used the Croatian lessons when I went to Croatia and used what i learned really helped me when i was off the beaten path and also impressed the locals.
It was easier for me to download the materials through an app provided by a well known audio book company than by downloading it through itunes.
