Western Armenian is the dialect most often encountered among Armenians outside of Armenia. It is spoken by Armenians in the U.S, Egypt, Istanbul, and other parts of the Diaspora. Eastern Armenian is the official language of the Republic of Armenia. It is also spoken in parts of Azerbaijan and Iran.
